Laguna Niguel
Modern Day Laguna Niguel was established in 1959 as one of the first master planned communities in California and became the 29th city in Orange County on December 1, 1989. Laguna Niguel consists of 14.72 square miles and is located about halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego. It is surrounded by the cities of Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo and San Juan Capistrano. The city features 2 community parks, 23 neighborhood parks, 3 mini-parks, 1 dog park,4 county parks and the new Laguna Niguel Skate and Soccer Park. Over one-third of the city is designated as open space. Laguna Niguel has approximately 67,000 residents and 73% of the 24,316 housing units are owner occupied.
