The city of Dana Point was named after Richard Henry Dana, Jr, the author of the classic sea journal, Two Years before the Mast. Dana Point has approximately seven miles of coastal bluffs and rolling hills along the Pacific Ocean. The most unique of these bluffs is known as the "Headlands" which overlooks Dana Point Harbor and the Ocean Institute. The harbor has more than 2500 boat slips along with many restaurants and shops.
